Whichever area you wish to work in board and whatever the expertise you possess there are some things which we look for in all our new recruits and that is commitment, passion, and a desire to deliver outstanding Customer Service consistently.  You will also need to be happy to work for approximately 6 months onboard at a time followed by 6 – 8 weeks leave before returning to sea. If  you have a sparkling personality and you believe you have what it takes to join one of our teams then read on further to find out more about the type of roles that we recruit and the experience we look for.

The Pursers department

One of the primary entry positions within the pursers department is that of an Assistant Manager.  This is a rotating position which gives you an opportunity of exposure both within the Crew Office and a Front of House administrative role. This enables you to get a good training and rounded experience in the hotel operation. Customer facing work experience in a hotel environment is essential for the role.  Other positions such as those within finance and auditing will require experience in large volume cash handling roles, experience of auditing within the hotel and leisure sector is also beneficial.

As an Assistant Shore Excursion Manager you will be responsible for assisting the Shore Excursion Manager to make sure that each and every tour in different ports is run efficiently, safely and each and every guest has an amazing experience.  If you were to work as a Port Presenter your role would be to share your my enthusiasm for the ports and the tours with the guests via lectures and 1-2-1’s.  You will encourage our guests to take advantage of the great tours which we have available. Customer service experience, sales experience and a great geographical knowledge are a must for this role.

We value each and every one of our guests and we aim to ensure that every one of them has an amazing time on board and wishes to revisit us on a regular basis.  As part of the Loyalty and Sales team on board you will be responsible for encouraging our guests to do this.  You will also be responsible for assisting with some of the special events which take place on on board i.e weddings and vows renewals.

The Food and Beverage Department

Our Food and Beverage team is one of the largest on board and there are a variety of positions on board.  On board every ship they are at least 100 Chefs ranging from Commis Trainee to Executive Chef, with a number of positions in between.  As a Chef on board you will be producing the finest food, in extremely large quantities so the ability to be able to work under pressure is a must.  For a small few there may be opportunities to work with some of our celebrity Chefs, famous names such as Marco Pierre White, Gary Rhodes and Atul Kutcher.  Experience in a large quality hotel or restaurant is essential as is experience of large event catering.
To support the Food and Beverage department we regularly recruit for Assistant Food and Beverage Managers.  This is a customer facing role responsible for assisting with managing outlets and ensuring the smooth running of different functions taking place on board.  You will also have duties behind the scenes working in the galley (Kitchen).  We also have Head Waiters onboard who help to manage our multinational teams in the numerous restaurants on board.

In the Bar section our Assistant Bartenders ensure that our guests are provided with all the beverages they require. Our extensive beverage menu means that all those recruited have a good knowledge of cocktails and other beverages both alcoholic and non alcoholic.

Entertainment

Our Entertainment team work hard to ensure that our guests have fun activities to complete at all times.  The team comprises a number of different roles including Entertainment Officers to host activities, carry out dance routines, DJ and lots more!  We have a number of Musicians who play in a variety of band sizes, and lastly but by no means least, we have our Production team.  This team work hard to ensure that all the shows and events which take place on board are of the highest possible standard, operating our lighting and sound desks to create fantastic effects on board.

Youth

Our Youth Staff on board do a fantastic job of entertaining our younger guests. Any staff working with those who are 8 years or younger must have an NVQ level 3 or equivalent in child care.  Of course having experience of working with children is a must for any role within the youth department.    The nature of cruising means that we often have more children on board during school holiday time.  We therefore often recruit for seasonal positions which will mean you may only work on board a ship during non term times.
