1st Electro-Technical Officer

Job Description:

Main Responsibilties

• High voltage authorized person for main switchboard, propulsion, generation and distribution

• Main engine propulsion and steering systems

• Main motor power generation

• Electrical and electronic navigation and bridge equipment
• Satellite communications systems including GMDSS radio equipment
• Shipboard IT systems and equipment
• Television and satellite broadcasting systems
• Entertainments systems and equipment
• Day-to-day management of junior officers, technicians, fitters and cadets

• Electrical design and implementation of ship and shoreside management Electro-Technical projects

• Prepare Refman entries for CE's approval
• Investigate and advise on electrical, electronic, communications and IT modification proposals and company-funded projects
• Project management of Electro-Technical projects to ensure compliance with all relevant electrical safety regulations and standards
• Provide electrical advice and assistance to ship's staff

• Upkeep of the AMOS database in all areas of responsibility


General

• Perform Emergency duties associated with rank

• Training of staff as required


Job Requirements:

Requirements & Experience Required

Qualifications:
• Degree or HND in either Electronic & Communications, Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline is desirable.
• Consideration will also be given to applicants from shore side employment with a commensurate level of experience.

• Proven experience sailing as a 2ETO in a Carnival UK brand
• Previous experience in a similar or higher rank with another shipping/cruise company
• Experience of Marine Engineering Systems, Marine Electrical Power Supply/Distribution systems, Electric Propulsion, A.C Generators, Motors and Control.
• Engine room Instrumentation including alarms and data logging experience
• Valid ENG1 Medical Certification or equivalent subject to employment being offered.
• Eligible for issue of a United States C1D/Visa.
• Excellent command of English language, both written and spoken.
• Good IT skills, and ability to manipulate modern Windows based packages.
• Ability to work as part of a large team, and take responsibility for own actions
• Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with both internal and external customers – our passengers
