ON BOARD PHOTOGRAPHERS
So, you’re thinking about becoming a ship’s photographer?
Do you have a passion for photography and travel? Do you excel in customer service and enjoy working as part of a team? Then working with The Ship’s Photographer could be the next career step for you. More details about the positions available can be found in the vacancies section.
So what would you be doing on board? There are so many activities and events to capture on modern cruise ships you could be doing any number of photo shoots. The main part of our business is event photography, so you could be photographing our passengers with the Captain, as they arrive in the amazing destinations the ship visits, at private parties, in the restaurants, up on deck at the tropical party - the list goes on! Our formal and casual portraits are extremely popular and we use both the stunning interiors of the ship as backgrounds as well as more traditional backdrops.
In the Photo Gallery we run workshops for passengers, camera clubs, have printing kiosks and of course the Photo Gallery is where we sell all of the images taken around the ship, so it is important that you can also work as a sales person.
Once you have the basics under your belt, there is also the opportunity to be involved in our wedding photography (we photograph over 300 weddings a year across our fleet of ships) as well as our exclusive private studio ‘Reflect’ high key portraits. There is also the opportunity to get involved with our DVD souvenir product or with mini-lab printing.
Work is seven days a week, with work spread out over a long day. It’s hard work, but very rewarding! You will be living and working on board with a group of between 3 and 15 other photographers, under the guidance of the Photo Manager. You’ll need to be sociable and be able to work well with other people as they are not just your work life but also your social life.
We are in the business of enhancing our passengers cruise experience as well as capturing their holiday through our cameras and video. If you feel you have what it takes to make the difference in a unique 5 star environment that allows you to travel the world, now could be the time to make the next step.
